HEREFORDSHIRE Council is to carry out further excavations at an historic Ledbury building.
Archaeologists will return to the Master’s House in January 2009 for a month-long investigation.
The remains of a medieval wall were discovered at the Grade II listed building during a dig last June.
The dig was ordered ahead of a £2.9 million project to renovate the building into the town’s new library.
Herefordshire Council will involve volunteers and is erecting a viewing platform so residents can see the work for themselves.
Councillor Adrian Blackshaw, cabinet member for economic development and community services, says the work is essential.
“It is important we carry out this extra work so it can be properly recorded and to ensure the proposed design of the library will be sympathetic to the history of the area,” he said.
