BRIGHT ideas are needed to tackle problems caused by the decision to switch off street lights in Hay-on-Wye.

Town council and county councillor Gareth Ratcliffe want residents to pinpoint those areas most affected by a Powys County Council ruling which saw two out of every three lights in Hay turned off as a way of cutting costs.

The idea is that danger zones opponents say were created by the ‘highly unpopular decision’ would be highlighted at a county council review meeting.

Town clerk Lesley Moore can be contacted on 01497 820296.

A more sensible way to cut costs would be to cut the Admin costs in the Powys Council Offices!
