A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a collision in Hereford yesterday.
James Muldowney sustained serious chest and abdominal injuries when his white and red Yamaha R6 bike was in collision with a green Peugeot 206 on Hampton Park Road at around 9.30am.
The 52-year-old, of Sufton Rise, Mordiford, was taken to Hereford County Hospital for treatment but died yesterday evening.
The Herefordshire coroner will be informed and an inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned this week.
Hampton Park Road was closed for much of the day as crash investigators tried to establish the cause of the collision.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the movements of either vehicle before it, to contact PC Steve Wood of the Hereford Roads Policing Team on 0300 333 3000.
They are particularly interested in talking to an elderly lady who may have seen the motorcycle before the crash.
Another witness said he pulled up at a set of light-controlled roadworks on Hampton Park Road near the start of a 40mph limit and saw the lady cross in front of the stationary traffic.
He believes she had a confrontation with a motorcyclist who passed the cars as she tried to cross.
She is described as being in her 70s and was walking a small black dog. Police believe her evidence may have a bearing on the crash investigation.
