A TEENAGER has been left with serious head injuries after his car smashed into a tree and landed on its roof.
The crash happened on the A4112 at Sarnesfield Cross, Sarnesfield in Herefordshire, at about 3.30pm on Saturday.
Two vehicles, a blue Skoda Felicia and a blue Ford Focus, were travelling together from Weobley towards Kington when the Skoda skidded off the road on the offside, crashing into a tree and landing on its roof.
The 18-year-old male driver was left with serious injuries and was taken to Hereford County Hospital and later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he remains in a critical condition.
Two young male passengers in the vehicle escaped with minor cuts and bruises.
Emergency services dealt with the accident and the road was closed for several hours to allow crash investigators to try and find the cause.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who saw the vehicles before it happened.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Mark Cranfield of the Roads Policing Team at Hereford Police Station on 0300 333 3000.
