BROMYARD children have been getting back to their roots thanks to a nature project backed by the police.

Youngsters on half-term holiday returned to school for a series of Hallowe’en and autumn activities.

More than a dozen youngsters took part in den building and other activities at Queen Elizabeth Humanities College.

The scheme was organised by CSO Sue Berrett, from Bromyard police station, and was supervised by the Wild Play Rangers from the Herefordshire Nature Trust.

CSO Berrett was pleased with the response and another session is being planned for the Easter holidays.

“We wanted to provide children with something to do and, at the same time, build-up a relationship with the youngsters,” said CSO Berrett.

“We want them to realise that CSOs and police officers are not just uniforms but approachable and friendly people.”
