CHRISTMAS GIFT NIGHT – Sutton CP School PTA is holding a Christmas gift night next Wednesday at our new village hall from 7pm to 9pm. The PTA will also be holding our Christmas fair on Saturday, December 6, from 1pm to 3pm. Father Christmas will be with us for the afternoon. The entrance fee is £1.50 for adults only, children are free. Raffle tickets are on sale already from the PTA.

Stoke Lacy

UK OLDER PEOPLE’S DAY – October 1 is UK Older People’s Day and Herefordshire Council is holding a series of informal coffee mornings around the county to advertise the services it offers and to meet the people who use them. The Stoke Lacy event will be held next Wednesday from 10am to noon and free refreshments will be provided. Anyone wishing to find out more about the services on offer to older people is invited to come along. More information available on 01432 261528.

PLANS APPROVED – Plans for the siting of the three lodges for holiday use together with car parking and a sewage treatment plant at Bellwood, Shobdon, were approved by members of the northern area planning sub-committee at their meeting on Wednesday, July 30. The approval is subject to conditions being agreed on landscaping, enhancement of ecological habitats and improvements to the site access.

Skenfrith

CATERING AWARD – A link has been forged between Llangattock School and Monmouth Montessori Nursery and the nationally-acclaimed, five-star restaurant The Bell at Skenfrith, which has offered the school an annual award for cookery. In addition to the presentation of a cookery book, it gives the winning child the chance to spend an afternoon in the restaurant kitchens to observe the Bell’s renowned chefs at work. This year’s delighted winner is Lucy Scudamore, aged 11 years. The presentation, which was made by Mrs Janet Hutchings from The Bell, took place at the school following a performance by pupils of The Wizard of Oz, in which Lucy played the part of the lion.
