PARISH COUNCIL MEETING – The meeting was addressed by Peter Yates, planning policy manager for Herefordshire Council. The government wishes local planning to be more simple and to make public involvement more meaningful. The government has decreed that at least 16,600 houses have to be built in Herefordshire before 2026 and that half of them should be in Hereford itself and the other half in rural areas. Herefordshire’s Cabinet councillors have stated that with any new housing should come the infrastructures. Allied to that infrastructure is retail and employment growth.
