Money to help schools get creative

CREATIVE Partnerships, the government’s flagship creative learning programme, designed to develop the skills of young people and raise their aspirations and achievements, has secured funding to roll out its programme over the next three years.

In Herefordshire it will be run by Bright Space, which operates the Creative Partnerships programme in Birmingham.

As a result of the new funding, Herefordshire schools will soon be invited to apply for 15 ‘enquiry schools’ awards of up to £3,000 per school.

The enquiry schools programme will link teachers and pupils with an expert and together they will create a project targeted at the needs of each school and aimed at developing children’s creativity.

Teachers will be receiving invitations to attend a briefing on September 10 in Hereford to gain more information.

Sarah Laws, arts learning officer at Herefordshire Council, said: “I am delighted to be working in partnership with Bright Space on this initiative. This funding will support exciting new partnerships between schools and creative partners, and the main beneficiaries of these partnerships will be children and young people.”
