FOLLOWING a successful world tour, Spike Theatre and Ramesh Meyyappan return to the UK with their new show, Gin & Tonic and Passing Trains, to tour the county this autumn. As part of a select tour, this exciting production will be staged at the University of Worcester’s Drama Studio on Saturday, October 11 .
Influenced by the classic Charles Dickens ghost story, The Signalman, Gin & Tonic and Passing Trains is a highly visual tale of one man with too much time on his hands and the question of how to fill it. Mr Jones lives in a remote signalman’s box. With nothing for company but his thoughts, an intermittent wireless and the sound of trains rushing past, Mr Jones starts to feel trapped in his damp, rickety signal box. Soon, the responsibilities and the endless sounds of bells drive him to distraction as he contends with a few ghostly visitors… Spike Theatre has developed a strong reputation for inventive storytelling utilising the physical creativity of performers to generate original and imaginative theatre.
Later this year, another fantastic production is to be staged in the Drama Studio. Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s Have Box Will Travel, a fusion of poetry, storytelling and DJ-ing, will be performed on November 22 Gin & Tonic and Passing Trains can be seen in the Drama Studio at the University of Worcester on Saturday, October 11 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be booked on 01905 857514, in person from the Finance Office, Main Reception, University of Worcester, or from St John’s Library, Glebe Close, St Johns.
